Thanks for all  the hints so far.

Maybe my last answer was not clear. SMTP is working but I still have all the described problems. I can't autheticate users. Also I cant delete them.

Any hints whats going wrong?

I have the same problem with the added details that it seems to only happen to users added after I upgraded to 3.3.  I cannot delete them, and new users ALWAYS get an error about "incorrect password" which is a major pain because they are trying to create multiple accounts, etc..

I just tried the user-registration from home and surprisingly it works! I did not change anything on the server so my guess is that the Firewall at work blocks something.

I will need further investigation as soon as I'm back at work.

It works from work too now.

Unfortunately I can not say what changed. Maybe it was just a restart of the WEB-Server that was done by our server-team.

Thanks for all the help anyway.
