Hi i am new to DNN i am stuck for deploying site on my local machine more ten 2 weeks ago.

i am using DNN 7 trying to deploy live site backup on my local machine what i am doing is to copy backup files and change web config according to my need and do all senario need for installing DNN environment but it starts installation and stuck on executing database scripts and remain on 15% for more then one and a half hour ?

If i use download this file "DNN_Platform_07.02.00_Install" and install it DNN 7 works fine on my machine.

But i am trying to host Live site backup on my local machine so what wrong i am doing ??

 Hopes for your suggestion

Thanks in Advance.

if you want to host your live site locally, you need to restore backup of all files and backup of the database, grant file system permissions and adopt both(!) connection strings in web.config.
If the installer shows up, you didn't properly unzip files or the connection to the database cannot be established.

It tries to install because it can see that whatever you are using as a database does not have the right version of DNN tables, sp;s etc in it.

I think you need to copy the database too.

something like this:
- recover the live site backup to your local machine
- recover a backup of the live database to your local machine
- adjust local web config to point to local database
- configure local IIS to run the local web site
- adjust database security so that local web site app pool can access it
- browse to local site
