Hi Guys,

I know this one will be a little "left field". I run a global site called http://www.crimesagainstfathers.com.  It is becoming well known and is ranked 518,000 now which is amazing for what it is. Just a place for father to register if they have been victims of a crime that their guvmints will not remedy. Kind of a queue for our new courts we have created.

Anyway...I put ads on the global site and Australian site and they work ok. I am going to publish essays on related topics via the forums. I have been testing running the google ad code inside a forum entry. I use frontpage to wrote forum entries that I want to lay out nicely etc.

I have not been able to get an ad to display inside the forum entry. It looks like the editor is removing the script statements. So I also tried an iframe with the source as a file and that does not seem to work either. Does anyone have any idea how it might be possible to post an essay into a forum entry and have google ads show up at set points in the essay?

If not that? Does anyone else have a good idea how to embed ads into essays on DNN?

PS. The ads are to support and pay for the site. People have refused to help pay for the site for three years so I paid for it myself. We just got 145,000 hits in December and that is translating into a few ad clicks per day which will help pay for the site.

Thanks in advance.

if you mean forum entries via a forum such as this then scripts will be stripped automatically as they are potential security issues (i.e. a user could inject a script to perform cross-site scripting)

Hi Cathal,
I figured it might be something like that. I saw that the editor stripped out scripts...I was wondering if running the script from a file might work in an iframe but it also seems to be stripped out as well...so I guess I will just leave the idea for now.

I cannot promise these work. In order of ease of trying:
- put the script in the page header (via page settings)
- put the script in the module header or footer (via module settings)
- put the script in the site skin
