Is there some way to get more information out of an upgrade failure than simply 'Executing Application Upgrades xx.xx.xx Error!'?

I must be missing something. This can't be all the info there is.

Thanks in advance.

you can check the installer log at Portals\_default\Logs - also you may want to set log4net to All so those logs are more detailed (http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/...)

Thanks for the great information, I really thought that would pinpoint the problem. It doesn't seem to work on my machine though. I didn't have the config file so created it using the top content. I changed the logging level to all and ran the upgrade. It didn't create any log files nor were there any different entries in the event table. Is there anything else I'm missing?

the file is called DotNetNuke.log4net.config and will be in the root folder - if you're not seeing any log files in the Portals\_default\Logs folder that would suggest a permissions issue (as the files are created empty automatically) -I would check that the windows user your application pool runs under has modify permissions for the root folder on down - I suspect you'll find this is the reason for your upgrade failure

Okay, I've done all of these, literally set perms on a folder by folder basis just before the upgrade and I'm still not getting the log files. I am getting a fail on 5.3.0 and I noticed the Wiki said: The log4net assembly (version 1.2.10) has been added to all editions of the DotNetNuke framework in 6.0.  If there is a connection between version 5 and framework (which I would think was version) 6. I really appreciate the help by the way.
