The 7.2.1 installer stops at "ERROR:Attempted to divide by zero". Why? Anyone encountered this? The log is empty. I tried retry.

The fix as mentioned in another post was to copy the 'install' folder from the Install package to the source package. Two thumbs down to whoever packaged the source zip for doing a lousy job and not doing basic testing.

FYI the source package is not installable by default - you must compile in release mode to build the various dlls for the project (this allows vs.net to optimize them for your os version/.net version and whether it is 32 or 64bit) - there are some notes on this at http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/...

Hi,

... Sorry - tad confused- I got this error and:

1. The first correspondent referred to another post - which I can't find.
2. Cathal referred to the wiki : http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/how-to-install-the-source-package-of-dotnetnuke
which I've re-read and still don't see where I can fix this issue.

3. I've compiled the platform successfully (44 projects, debug and release)  - which clearly I'd done as I wouldn't have got this far :)

So if there's a specific solution, can someone help?

Thanks!,
Duncan.

ok - so the confusion is that people have jumped to the conclusion that you are using a source package you have not correctly built (the "divide by zero" error indicates that something that was expected to be there is not - and this almost always indicates someone using a source package that they have not built in release mode, or configured the sln file properly e.g.http://www.dnnsoftware.com/answers/ci... ). First off, I would typically recommend you don't use a source package unless you're planning on debugging dnn code (e.g. to contribute a fix) - have you tried a standard install package? If it works then you aren't building the source package correctly - but if it doesn't it would indicate a problem elsewhere -likely that you are missing a prerequisite such as .net 4, or are using an "old" sql server version (i.e. sql 2000/2005)
