that's the odd thing -the createuser function applies almost all it's logic within try-catch blocks so it's pretty hard to raise an exception (short of having something that breaks the profanity filter - or doing something unexpected like trying on a separate thread to asp.net) - certainly debugging in vs.net would be the easiest thing to do

I'm going to work on this today. I'll post my results once I figure it out. Thanks!

Here's an observation. I'm trying to create a user within a .svc file that I created within my module and not in a .ascx. Would that make a difference?

yes, very likely e.g. your svc may not be authenticated so the API would fail, or it may not read the web.config details correctly (often svc's have custom web.config's) - they can work e.g. we use svc in evoq enterprise to syncronize content, but they do take some more care to get working - often it's easier to use DNN's built in service framework support as it is well integrated e.g. it contains attributes for permissions etc.

I need to write a process that imports and keep updated about 74,000 users the database. How would you suggest that I do this? I was heading down a the path to expose a WCF service within the module that exposes this functionality, but this looks like a show stopper. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for your quick responses.
