Anyway, I fixed the problem after reading this link: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21...

Upgrading to the 5.1.1 dlls fixed the problem of posting on the Journal.

my understanding is that was a bug in 5.1 (when they introduced some of the CORS support they broke some defaults), and it was fixed in a later release.

Yes, that seems to be the case - real bad timing ;)

Posting to Journal works, but My Messages does not - I think it is a different issue though:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error)
Gives a Auth challenge: Authorization has been denied for this request.
"Given URL is not allowed by the Application configuration.: One or more of the given URLs is not allowed by the App's settings. It must match the Website URL or Canvas URL, or the domain must be a subdomain of one of the App's domains."

Please note we haven't tested DNN with the new WebAPI, particularly in conjunction with new capabilities such as CORS. They're likely to require amendments e.g. it's likely we'll have to add withCredentials (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magaz...) to certain methods (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magaz...)
