Dears,

I hope my topic is in the right forum, and i'm sorry if it's not...

So my case is that we have found a .txt file in my DNN folder (Which doesn't belong to DNN nor belong to us), so if you go to www.mydnnwebsite.com/textfile.txt it will show up, so it was a hack or whatever it is... anyway to get to the point...My Event Viewer doesn't show anything about it, maybe the right category to show it is disabled, and the IIS logs are hard to read or I might  went to the wrong directory to read the log file. My question is:

Which category of Event Viewer should show this or is it in the Site Log which is disabled on my website or non.

So all I want is your recommendation to avoid this or kindly provide me steps to read the log about this accdient

this would only be visible in IIS log files, if the user didn't use DNN.
Security issue might be a weak FTP password or a 3rd party DNN extension.
Which DNN version are you running, which texteditor providers are installed and which 3rd party modules?

Cheers from Germany,

Thanks for the reply,

I'm kinda sure that FTP is disabled, but will double check tomorrow morning, and i'm using DNN 5.4 atm, upgrading it to 7.2 soon.

My current text editor provider is TelerikEditorProvider.

And ye about 3rd party modules, there are IFrame, Delisoft - DSTabLocalizator, MLHTML, ModuleLocalization and many custom made modules.

That version is very old and suffers from a number of known issues, I would recommend an upgrade - one thing that leaps to mind is that there was an issue that was only fixed in 4.8.3 where potential hackers could upload files that had extensions on our "safe" list e.g. txt, jpg etc. If you've only upgraded recently that's likely what you saw.

5.4 is for sure above 4.8.x, but I assume you didn't uninstall fckeditor, please make sure you are deleting all content of /providers/htmleditorproviders/fck folder.
