we have a dmx documents module and when we add a user to a role to see the documents page they do not see the documents (because of permissions) until 2 hrs later or so. it is when global cache resets I think.

I have tried
DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.DataCache.ClearUserCache(PortalId, user.Username)

but this doesn't seem to work
the global clear does work
DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.DataCache.ClearHostCache(True)

but I would like to run a lesser clear cache.
any idea on a more specific clear that might work?
perhaps module permissions?

what version are you running (some old versions required the portalroles cookie to be cleared also)

hmm, that should work fine- in fact the API call contains the cache clearance i.e. a call to a method such as RoleController.AddUserRole(User, Role, PortalSettings, RoleStatus.Approved, datEffectiveDate, datExpiryDate, chkNotify.Checked, isOwner); works (as AddUserRole contains DataCache.ClearUserCache(portalSettings.PortalId, user.Username);

I suggest opening a support issue with Bring2Mind, maybe they are having proper instructions.
Besides, you may use Advanced ControlPanel from www.oliverhine.com, which might be tweaked to grant access to "Clear Cache" for non-admins as well.
