Hi Everyone,

I made some changes to the /Admin/Skins/Login.aspx to make it work the way I want. After updating my work my changes have be overwritten. I'm going to start duplicating the skin objects and make changes that way.

I just would like some tips on working with skin objects.

Where is the best location to put the skin object files? Same directory or create my own folder?

Have you encountered any problems with updating DNN as far as syncing latest files with my version?

Any tips are appreciated

it's really up to you - you can simply duplicate the files in their existing location (admin/skins) and then rename them and insert a record into the database. This will work but is slightly messy, and not transferrable to other sites i.e. if you've had to make these changes once chances are you'll have to make them again. As such I recommend looking into packaging them up as an installable extension -to do so you have to define a dnn manifest file but it's not that hard as skin objects are pretty simple -see http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/page/... for an example. This also makes it easier to install the skin object into your own desktopmodules folder.

no problem - whilst the wiki has all the information you should need, I find it's often good to look at a source code example - https://openlanguageskinobject.codepl... is a good one to follow as Sasha is doing something similar (in his case providing an alternative "language" skin object). https://openlanguageskinobject.codepl... shows how he then references it in his own skin.
