I just got started using DNN and am trying to import an existing HTML/CSS template into DNN. I read some guides about skins and if I understood correctly, I could get started by creating a skin folder and putting the HTML/CSS files there and parsing them from DNN admin page. Does this sound correct or is it more complicated than this? Thanks.

Ariel,

There are many skinning articles and tutorials throughout the DNN site. For example: http://www.dnnsoftware.com/searchresu...

When you installed DNN on your localhost development machine there were some skins and containers that were also installed. Have a look at how these skin/container files are configured. You’ll find them in >Portals >_default >Skins and >Portals >_default >Containers. You will notice that none of the file are *.html   They are ascx files with corresponding css and various other files depending on the skin design.

Usually when a skin is installed as a skinname.zip file, it is done so through >Host or Admin extensions, depending on if you want the skin available to the portal only or the overall DNN installation.

Once the skin has been installed you select the skin for the portal through >Admin >Site Settings >Basic Settings >Appearance

Regards
Mike
