Hi,

I was put in charge of managing the company's ecommerce website (which is obviously on DNN) and one of the first things I gotta do is add some tracking code to the "thank you" page of the products so we can track our Adwords conversions.

I did grab the tracking code from our Adwords account but the problem is that I have no idea where to add it since I have never EVER used DNN in my entire life and I've been reading everything I could about it for the last 2 days but without finding out how to do this.

Could I please get some foolproof (like "do this, then do that, etc.") kind of instructions on where to add that code? We have a very old version of DNN (04.09.05) and I will also have to rebuild the entire site from the ground up come next month but for now adding this code is one of the musts.

Eagerly awaiting for your reply if it's not too much trouble...

TIA,

John

4.9.5 is an ancient version and not regarded as secure . Due to it's age you'll likely find it hard to get answers to your question as few people will have an instance that old to look into. Typically you would add google to a dnn site via the google analytics module but I'm not sure if that existed in that version, I'd recommend checking your list of modules (currently host->extensions, but I think that it was called something different in that version). In addition, google analytics tends to run across the whole site, you can then later filter the results and data mine items such as landing on a particular page.

Hey Cathal, thanks for your fast reply!

Yeah, I know it's an old version but unfortunately it's how we roll for now. But we will rebuild the site come June and we will definitely install the most up-to-date version of DNN. Anyway....

I looked under HOST and there is no such thing as "extensions". There's host settings, portals, module definitions, file manager, vendors, SQL, schedule, languages, search admin, lists, host accounts, skins, what's new, dashboard, and Open-SearchEngine Admin. But anyway, I did look today through the entire program and I recall very well that I found somewhere a list of modules that come with this version and one of them clearly stated "Google Analytics". Furthermore, we already have a google analytics module installed on our website and it's working perfectly. Do you say I should add the tracking code I got from our AdWords account below the analytics code? Or how does this work? I know that this is not an adwords/analytics forum but it still has to do with a DNN powered website, so I am hoping you can help me somehow.

Just let me know if the adwords code should be added to the same "Google Analytics" module or if it shouldn't be added at all and use the analytics code instead, and it will be fine. I will figure out on my own what to do next.

Thanks!
