Armin,

I see no reason to believe that asking 'What is 3 + 10?' or similar is strong. The people who break these things on a large scale are professionals. They have massive amounts of computing power. If they have enough power to OCR a distorted image; then the text 'What is 3 + 10? will be trivial.

ATM the volumes are low enough for this to be OK. Even at a few hundred per day it would likely be OK.

A solution which is to move the login page could have been added to the latest release and solved a problem with thousands of websites. Instead we have to do this manually on every installation. Thanks.. so much. How difficult could that have been to help almost every one of your customers?

Again, this statement is not accurate. I get many people emailing me asking what is going on!


•Sites that have enabled verified registration typically do not see this issue as the spam accounts do not use real email addresses, and user profile fields for unverified users are not visible to normal users (admin/host can view the profile)
