Having successfully upgraded my site to DNN 6.8.2, I'm looking at the upgrade to 7.  From the research I did in May, I think I should be able to upgrade directly to 7.2.  Is that so or is there an intermediate step?

Also, 7.x has some infrastructure requirements, I'd like some advice on whether I need to upgrade anything in test:

My test platform is a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit laptop.  Installed programs include SQL Server Express 2008 (patched), IIS 7.5.76, .NET framework 4.5.1, and Visual Studio Tools 2.0.  I can't find any mention In the "turn on Windows features" program of the "integrated pipeline only" that seems to be needed, but IIS 7 is fully turned on.  Can I upgrade to 7.x on this platform or do I need to upgrade something?

infrastructure is fine, but I would upgrade via 7.1.2

Thank you for the advice, but I've hit a snag.  I downloaded the upgrade pack for 7.1.2, unblocked it, unloaded it over my test site, and got the following:

Server Error in '/OSC' Application.

Could not load file or assembly 'ClientDependency.Core' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'ClientDependency.Core' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.

If you need the stack trace let me know, it's easy enough to recreate.  What do I do about this??  I've seen some posts that suggest it's related to having .NET 4.0 or better in integrated pipeline mode, but I'm still trying to learn how to tell what version of .NET I'm running and whether I'm in integrated pipeline mode or not.

I solved this one myself - the DefaultAppPool in my IIS was running .NET 2.0.  I assigned the site to an AppPool running .NET 4.0 and the wizard ran like a clock.  Site looks good although I find it annoying that everything you aren't actually mousing over is grayed out in logged in mode as host.

I have general problems with menus in every browser except Chrome.  Chrome has a specific menu problem.  In IE11 the menus just don't work.  In FireFox they seem to work but the dropdowns vanish behind the next lowest module and can't be accessed - I'll check this, I had this problem upgrading to 6.x.  And in Chrome, going into a host function - like checking something in Extensions - causes the menus not to function At All.  Is one really expected to log out and log back in after any host function?? Or is there a fix I can apply?
