Hello,

I have two quick questions about the DNN Blog module if anybody is familiar with it...

First, is it possible to have custom fields? Our posts are often about published journal articles and it would be great if I could record the relevant DOI somewhere.

Second, is it possible to post on behalf of another author and to have multiple authors?

This really looks like a great module with a lot of flexibility in the templates, I just would need to have those features.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,
The newest version of the Blog module allows a Blog to have multiple authors and allows for "ghost writing". Not sure about custom fields.

Hi Mike,

Thanks - I think I mean something different, though...

I meant having two authors on a single post. When you think about online newspaper articles, for example, you could have multiple authors on a single article. I've been surprised that I can't find any blog/articles modules for DNN that do that. I think this must be from the dated logic of "blogging".

It seems like all of the options out there still work based on individual "bloggers", but, I would guess more and more sites are looking for an "editor" model, where it works more like a newspaper. In that model, you'd have easy article workflow, allow custom fields and as many authors as desired. Then, have normal templated output. News Articles is close to doing this stuff, but it isn't quite there. Live Articles looks close, but it has a very rigid template system.

I'm having a surprisingly difficult time finding a solution that does all of those things.
