Thanks for posting this question on the forums. This will make it much easier for you to get some constructive input and not go through a ton of trial and error to find the right solution for you.  :)

The answer to your question depends on what a "basic" module is in your definition...  Every module out there has its pros and cons.  And in general, like with everything else, there is the "you get what you pay for" rule.

I am somewhat biased but I wouldn't be doing myself any favors if I didn't tell you about Hotcakes Commerce.  It's not just an e-commerce module, but rather a solution that can handle a catalog from 1 to many thousands of products.  It will be able to handle a hobbyist store and an enterprise level offering so it can grow to handle your success.

Probably the most important thing I can mention though is that it's not just a module.  We are a real company, with a real team, and real processes behind it.  This is not a hobbyist module built and supported on someone's spare time.  You have marketers, sales, developers, project managers, QA, support staff, and more that are supporting this solution on a daily basis.

You'll have the flexibility to to make the store do what you want and look any way that you can imagine. It's really only up to your creativity.  For example, check out what Trigger Point did in their recent site redesign:

http://www.tptherapy.com/

Among the numerous features, we support various types of products, including virtual, membership, downloadable, and physical. You'll be able to easily integrate it with any other systems or processes.

We also have several partners available to meet your needs.

If you want to try Hotcakes, it's a free trial, and we have an extensive community to help you as well as paid support that is fully backed by an SLA.

Community: http://hotcakescommerce.com/Community...
Support: http://hotcakescommerce.com/Features/...

We very much look forward to helping make your next e-commerce project highly successful. But don't just take it from me. See what others say about us on our pricing page (below), and you'll notice that ALL of our DNN Store reviews are 5 stars.
