My web server and SQL server are different machines. I am following Mark Hammond's videos for installing DNN 7.x and have hit a stopping point during the database configuration because SQL does not reside on the web server. I cannot create the login using iis apppool\ due to it being different machines. What is the best practice to work around this issue and is there a document to reference?

To create a login for the IIS AppPool\xyz user from another computer (within the same Windows domain, or between two trusted domains), you can use the host name of the web server, e.g. MYDOMAIN\WebServer$

(mind the "$" at the end!)

Best wishes
