I'm running a site upgraded to DNN 7.3.1 and I cannot find a way "Unassign" the Modules "Advanced Settings" or "Module Creator".

Neither Module contains the "Premium Module" section where they can be Assigned/Unassigned.

The site has many Child Portals and I don't like for the Portal Administrators to see most of the modules so I unassign them.  These two modules have no relevance for most users and I need to find a way to hide them.

Any suggestions?

Hi David,

Try this:

goto:

Admin > Site Settings  then the 'Advanced' tab scroll down to the 'Host settings' section and where it says 'Available modules' uncheck the modules that you don't want the administrator of the site to use.

You will find the Module creator and Advanced settings module there.

You can also go another way to give rights for a user role/username by:

going to Admin > Extensions the editing the modules role/user missions there.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

geoff

Geoff,

That doesn't help because you would have to remove it from EACH site instead of marking it as Premium and removing it from all sites there. Some of the newer modules DON'T allow you to do this...something I've complained about (and posted in the bug tracker) before, but my complaints have, thus far, been ignored. (I had another issue where they BROKE the adding/removing of modules as Premium due to an incorrect change in a SQL statement....I provided a fix....and was told that the version of DNN (5) was not going to have any more updates. 2 months' later, there was a new DNN5 update....without my fix (a simple change of the SQL statement).

Okay...rant over.

David,

You can use the SQL module or Reports module to trigger a DELETE statement if you know the DesktopModuleID of what you want to remove from a site.

For example: DELETE FROM PortalDesktopModules WHERE DesktopModuleID IN (#,#,#,#)

@Geoff - Thanks for the suggestions. I wasn't really aware of the second method but knew about the first. But as Mike points out, I was looking for a better way than visiting every Child Portal (30).

@Mike - I was hoping for more of a solution like yours, but I'd did't want to delete any DB records.

Is there not a column in a table with a true/false that I could change to affect this?

David, there should still be an option to remove portal assignments for each module in Host > Extensions, when entering module details
