I was not having the issue I read about where a newly created Profile Setting would not show up in the Registration field. For some reason I am now having that problem, but only when I use the "List" data type.

I got around this by setting the property to text which made it visible in the Registration Field. I saved this config and then changed the data type of the Profile Setting to "List" and it worked.

Bizarre. Was this the situation others were experiencing or was it with any data type?

Now in regards to the "List" data type: I have over ten portals and will have have substantially more than this as the site progresses.

In each portal there is Profile Setting that I want to use "List" as the data type yet when I enter data into the form I am informed that the "Item is already present", which is incorrect. The item has not been entered in the current portal but it is in another portal.

However even though it is in another portal, I am unable to use it in the current portal. But I can't enter it in the current portal because it's in use in another portal. But I can't use it in this portal.....

And round and round...

Is there a way out of this loop?

Thanks Bob

Bob, both, the list type properties not showing up as well as site-specific lists need to have unique names are bugs, you should report into the public issue tracker at support.dnnsoftware.com. You may workaround by using a host > List, but I haven't tried it.

Hey Sebastian. Thanks for the heads up. I'll report that as suggested.

Can you please be a little more specific in regards that possible work around "using a host > List"?

Not sure how I would implement that.

Thanks

Bob

Bob, there is a "Lists" module in both, admin and host menu. Try entering your list using the Lists module in Host menu.

Thanks Sebastian,

Created a new List in the Host>List but there is no way of using that list in the Profile Settings and the original problem persists. This was supposed to be a nice easy fix for me because I'm unable to bind the list to a data source.

Have to come up with something completely different now.

Think I should have stuck with just using asp.net instead of going the dnn route.

But I appreciate your help.

Bob
