I've been going thru theses PHP/ASP now Dot Nukes and their all fricken hard to install.. It's like you're required to be a brain surgeon to actually be sucessful into installing this sucessfully.

I DO NOT recommend new people like myself to even try dicking with this or any other "Nukes" simply because you're going to be spending all day playing with this thing..

I certainly wish developers can put a warning sign stating that this is not newbie friendly.

Basic understanding of IIS and SQL is something that is needed to setup Dotnetnuke on your server but even if you have very limited knowledge about this the Installation Guide has all you need. It contains a step by step guide with screenshots to make it easy for you.

What went wrong?

I use DotNetNuke as the basis of training newbies to both development and business users of Portals. And it is easy to install and while some have diffculty conceptually at the start is does not take long to undersand DotNetNuke when you invest some time to read he various documents provided.

Following the step by step install guide normally achieves a good outcome, however in a few situations I have encountered environment issues on existing servers that have required further effort to resolved. Portals do generally require some base knowledge as they are not simply a desktop application and have a few more dependancies.

This forum is the ideal support platfom for any problems that you may have and here are plenty of people that would help with any areas that you don't understand, however we need to know ehta you have difficulty with.
