Correct.
The advantage of the StyleHelper over the xml files is that you don't have to create a separate file for the doctype.
When you set the doctype through the Skin Object inside the ascx, creating skin variations gets easier.
You can simply copy an existing skin file (ascx), rename it and you are done.
