Is there a way to set a login retry limit i.e. lock the account after n number of failed login attempts?

Hi Jim,
You can set the "maxInvalidPasswordAttempts" property for the AspNetSqlMembershipProvider in web.config of your site.

Thanks,

Thank you Sunil!  Interesting that when I look at Membership Provider Settings max Invalid Attempts is 5 but in the web.config file maxInvalidPasswordAttempts is declared as an int but no value is assigned.  So I guess 5 is the default?

yes, 5 is the inbuilt default - but it can accept any integer value (AFAIR 0 disables the protection, but that's not a good idea IMHO)

Yes Tim, The default is set to 5 .
You can only change this in the web.config file by setting maxInvalidPasswordAttempts with some integer value. Look for key with name "AspNetSqlMembershipProvider" inside membership > providers tag.

Thanks,
