Hello

Can DNN support advise on how to disable or delete the meta code    <html lang="en-US">  from the top of DNN webpages?
We prefer to add out own meta language codes and are looking for a way to remove this

Any solution, module or code recommendation would help.

We are not interested in adding language packs as a solution as we dont want  text being translated, just removing this entirely

Thank you,

Michael

the language meta tag is added according to the language(s) associated with your Website (in Admin > Languages), what is your issue with this setting?

Yes, the issue is that we have single pages that include international languages. We don't want a language pack translating them (proper SEO requires that they be translated by actual humans).

In order for the page to get proper signals in Google they require that we set a language meta tag in the header. Which is easy. We just add the metatag code to the PAGE SETTINGS-ADVANCED SETTINGS-->Page Header Tags  BOX

However, with  the  <html lang="en-US">  tag still being there, it interferres with our SEO and conflicts with our international language tags.

We'd also like to do more complex things such as seen on the pages of  http://www.3m.com/ in which they use the  hreflang= language tag (see html codes) This may include 20 variations of regions and languages (or more).

Which again we can add easily in the page header tags box, however we would want to turn off <html lang="en-US">

Our request is actually quite simple. which is how to delete or turn off the <html lang="en-US"> meta tag
It may make sense from DNN's language perspective however it conflicts with several international SEO scenarios (by conflicting the meta-codes)

Solution: a simple check box, a way to block the code or a way to delete it from the core files?  any of those methods would help

Thank you
please advise on potential solutions, we use DNN for out enterprise sites, thought this conflict makes it hard to keep using it

Mike

You can remove it from default.aspx in the root folder.

But you have to repeat this action after each upgrade !
