Hi

If I have a main site being built in DNN... and I also have a separate commerce site (non-DNN) that pulls customer specific info/pricing from a customer database upon using the account login defined/set up in that database - is there a way for the single sign on (that same user/pass) to be used on both separate sites? To merge them together for a seamless experience?

If it is the commerce portal defining those user accounts, what needs to happen in DNN to make this work? I want users to hop back & forth between the two sites without having two separate logins. Is this an API thing? Would like primary and secondary users - based on permissions set in the commerce site, to be able to make purchases in the DNN site, however, to make things easier their cart links back to the commerce portion for checking out after they are through adding items to cart. (the items are in a "hold" until user checks out which then jumps back to commerce site)

Would like more information about this. Can you please advise, or point me to a thread?

Thank you!

You may create an authentication provider for DNN to use credentials stored in your other application - like Facebook, Twitter or Live Authentication provider.
If your other application does include additional information like profile properties, you may create a membership provider, which is a bigger task.
There should be additional information about both in the Wiki.

In this situation you need one user data store (place where users are stored) for two web applications (DNN & CommerceSite). The basic solutions are:

1. Users are stored only in DNN, in this approach the CommerceSite must be adjusted to authenticate users with DNN data store.

2. Users are stored only in CommerceSite, in this approach the DNN must be adjusted to authenticate users with CommerceSite data store (custom DNN membership provider, etc.)

3. External data store for both applications (DNN & CommerceSite) like: Facebook, Twitter, Active Directory, etc.
