This is my first look at the store module (as always - well done to the team making this possible!) - and I am trying to decide if it is overkill for what I need:

I am considering moving to a sales model on Smart-Thinker.com. Currently it uses the subscription model so the core code makes a call to PayPal and uses the IPN to add a user to the role they subscribed to. This works great as there is very little involvement from me between sales.

In the sales model - my requirements are relatively simple: I have 10 or so "products" modules - that can be downloaded. A user should be able to add these products to a cart and Checkout. Upon successful purchasing they are then added to certain roles and I choose what they can download based on these roles. Everything is handled by PayPal wrt to credit cards and sales details, but it gives the impression of a webstore.

Is this possible as is with the beta version of the store module? Obviously it's never advisable to use beta software on live sites, but it the latest version in a stable enough state to use or are there known show-stopper bugs? Are there any examples of stores using the core store?

Thanks Robert. I will need to wait until that version is released then - in the meantime I may use a hacked-up PayPal solution.

I wont ask you how far away that version is  ;)
