Hello,

I have to provide access to an user who can only edit contents in the existing pages. What role i have to provide. Also what is RSVP is it something i need to use?

RSVP is just for Special cases, you want selected users to subscribe to roles by themselves, e.g. on a personal site, where you might provide all guests of a party with the code, allowing them to access the page with the private party pictures (if they are able to remember the code after that evening ;))

if your user user should edit selected pages and is the only user, you may just provide edit permission in page Settings to him personally.
otherwise you may create a new role "Editor", with him as member.
Now grant edit permission to each root page and click propagate to child pages Option in page settings
