New Community Website

Ordinarily, you'd be at the right spot, but we've recently launched a brand new community website... For the community, by the community.

Yay... Take Me to the Community!

Welcome to the DNN Community Forums, your preferred source of online community support for all things related to DNN.
In order to participate you must be a registered DNNizen

There are other application generators that can create web services such as IronSpeed Designer and CodeOnTime. CodeOnTime can create DNN modules but they don't seem very integrated into the DNN framework.

The problem is code generators like IronSpeed and CodeOnTime can develop a sophisticated application but to use them you end up losing the "plug-in" capabilities, so if you want a FAQ page, or Announcements or Events you have to do that too. Same deal if you just want a "page" with "stuff", in DNN that's easy, in the code generators that's hard.

Bad news is there's scant information (or code support) for generating enterprise apps in DNN, so there's a great divide.

So is there a "compromise". Could we use a application generator that would generate a web service framework, and leverage that framework in a DNN module. That would require both frameworks leverage a similar security model, and (the tricky part) share a deployment topology.

In the case of a ISP like PowerDNN could someone deploy DNN and an ISD or COT app to the same site and have them live peacefully, with DNN modules able to use the the services exposed?
