I need to hide the breadcrumb trail on a single page without modifying the skin files.
Is this possible?

Find the CSS style that is applied to the breadcrumb and add a CSS style definition of display:none for that page.

Yes you can. You can add a style tag under page setting -> advanced setting -> page header tags:

This works for the default DNN 73 skin.

Thanks for the suggestions! I adding the following under page setting -> advanced setting -> page header for  the page and that did it.

<style type="text/css">
#dnn_dnnBREADCRUMB_lblBreadCrumb{display:none}
</style>
