Problem: I would like to create a referral program for the registered users in my application where they can spread a word about my website via the link that I can give them. This link will have a unique referral code or reference created for this user. If a new user registers by landing on the site using this link, the other member should get a point (or something!).

Is there anything available out of the box in DNN 7? Or do I need to create this from scratch ?

I came across this referral module post before. This links with DNN store. I don't understand how can I use this for my purpose! Do you mind guiding to me? 

The other idea I've in my mind is to generate a unique code for all users and store it in userProfile table by creating a new property from User Profile Settings. I can provide a link to them with this code like www.abc.com/?ref=A123

If a non-member registers using this link, I need to read this code and identify who this code belongs to and add +1 for that user in the referral programme table in db. However, I'm not sure how can I hook this reference code identification programmatically just when a new user registers using built-in registration process. 

Do you have any idea how to override this process or add custom code in the registration process?
