Hi all - First post so be gentle!

I'll start with - I have never touched DNN before, ever.

I was asked to migrate an old DNN installation (No idea what version, or how to find out) from a windows server 2003 box to a new 2012 box.
The SQL server stays where it is, separate.

After getting the site to work, I have hit a couple of odd issues that I hope you can help with:

1: Logging in...
--> I have the Host and Admin passwords, and when I click "Login" at the bottom of the page it takes me to a login page. If i enter invalid credentials it tells me so. If i enter the working Host or Admin details, it doesnt reject them, but it does nothing else either, it just takes me back the home page.

2: Domain name
--> The site is made from what appears to be 3 "Sections" - each having their own nearly identical menus, but containing different content.
On the main part of the site, all menu items and links use the fully qualified domain name, and work.
BUT in these other sub-sites it substitutes the domain name for the server's IP address, which doesnt work (as its a server running multiple sites)

Help!!!

did you make sure to use same ASP.Net version for your IIS app pool as before? old versions may require ASP.Net 2 or 1.1

To find your version number. Login as admin. Look in host settings.

Check your login problem *very carefully*. Are you on a test site? When you login are you now on the home page of the *live* site? If so it's likely you are missing a portalalias entry.

Best wishes,

Thanks - Yes the original was running on .NET 2.0.50727, as is the new one.

No it doesn't appear to be a test site, it looks exactly as per the rest of the site.

I have looked in the database and it looks like the portalalias and portals tables are empty....
