I am a front end developer for a company that uses the DNN system to support the employee benefits of 80 large businesses through web portals. Included in our menu for each portal is a Reference Center containing 5-8 Documents modules. Each module holds anywhere from 1 to 15 pdf files. Is there a way to add more than one file at a time from a file location? If the standard module doesn’t feature that function, are there third-party add-ons that might?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Zackery,

I think the Documents module does not have this feature. I have had quite the same task and solved it as follows:

I use a links module that is able to display a folder content (e.g. the DNN Links module), and installed an uploader module visible only to users that are allowed to upload on the same page referring the same folder. I used Oliver Hine's SwfUpload module for that).

Happy DNNing!
Michael

Ack! I didn't communicate the problem well. The problem is not in uploading the files to the server, but in adding them to the module. If I have 8 pdf documents to be displayed on a Dental Benefits document module of an Employee Benefits page, I would have to hover over the module editor, hit Add New Document, select the file location of the existing pre-uploaded pdf's, and then select a file name. This will load one document into the module and I will have to repeat the procedure above 7 more times to finish the task. If I could call several documents from one file location as I load the module, it would drastically reduce the repetition of selecting existing files individually from the File Name drop down selector within the documents module.

Does this look like the kind of problem that can be resolved by editing the document module code? Or does this look like a problem better solved through a third party module?

Zackary,

this looks more like the documents module is not the right one for you. What you can do is adding a request for this feature on the documents project page (here: https://dnndocuments.codeplex.com/wor...), or download the source code and modify it yourself. It should be quite simple to add some "Save and add another one" button to the interface. As far as I can see, there is no project on GitHub yet, and the code on CodePley is under SVN (and not Git), so if you want to contribute your code you should get in contact with the coordinators.

An alternative could be DMX (http://www.bring2mind.net/DocumentExc...).

Happy DNNing!
Michael
