Just a clarifying question, 

I notice that {databaseOwner} is set to "dbo." instead of "dbo" as it should be more intuitive.
and therefore sentences
like  CREATE TABLE {databaseOwner}{objectQualifier}[Tasks]
 instead of  CREATE TABLE {databaseOwner}.{objectQualifier}[Tasks] 

just asking ourselves why including the dot inside the token
is that a common practice on ASP developments?

It is propably not common in the ASP(.Net) world, butit is DNN style. It always was like this, and changing it to something else would break too many dataprovider scripts.

The installer does nothing but replacing "{databaseOwner}" with "dbo." (or whatever the name of the database owner is) and that's it.

I don't think there is a special reason why there is no dot.

PS: There are some other specialities about the dataprovider scripts as well, e.g. you have to add a blank line after every "GO" command (or has this been fixed in the meantime?)

You may specify the databaseOwner with or without the trailing dot, in the latter case, DNN will add it automatically.
The idea is, that you may even specify an empty value and SQL Server will use currentOwner (or his Default Database Schema, as it is called now).
Consider the tokens just as simple text preprocessing of the scripts prior to submitting it to SQL Server.
