Ok. Not a shred of hard evidence here, but I seem to recall a problem (pre moving to Amazon) where I saw periods of 100% CPU usage.

I think I tracked it down to the RSS feeds module and removing that made it go away. It's too long ago to have any detail memory. It would have been ages ago and probably multiple releases - BUT RSS in essence *is* xml. I'd at least check you have the latest version of the xml module.

I have the DNN xml module that was the latest at the time I did the DNN site change over to 7.2.2.

it is Xml_06.00.02

trying a iis process dump to see if that will show me what might not be working;  have not done that before.  did the dump but don't know where it put it. and what tools might help look at it. 

found an old post somewhere else that refers to Windows Error Reporting ...

off I go on the search...
