I'm trying to get DNN setup but I'm having an issue when it comes to configuring the Database Information.  I've checked the option for SQL Server/SQL Server Express Database.  Server Name = '', Database Name = dnndev.me,  Object Qualifier = '', Security = Integrated, and Database Owner is selected. Also

my connection string is:  <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=MYCOMPNAME\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=dnndev.me;Integrated Security=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;" />

When I click "Continue" the "Verifying Database Connection" message just loops and nothing happens....PLEASE HELP!!!

Jimmy,

There are several resources online for "How to install DNN". You can find them on the wiki page here http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/how-t...

I created a module development series with one entry focusing on installing DNN. There is a video walkthrough too. You can check it out here http://www.dnnsoftware.com/community-...

The error could be anything, but typically when the "verifying" message is the roadblock it means the system is having issues connecting to your database so you want to ensure that you have all the accurate info in the form fields

Jimmy,

what confuses me is the "AttachDBFileName=..." part of your connection string, as you are naming a server (MYCOMPNAME\SQLEXPRESS) and a database (dnndev.me) in your connection string. Did you install SQL Express? If yes: Have you created a database called dnndev.me, and does the app pool identity has enough permissions (for installation I would suggest db_owner, later you may reduce that)?

Happy DNNing!
Michael

I've followed all directions in the installation videos but the Installation still is not working for me. I'm still getting the same error as yesterday with the "Verifying Database Connection". There must be some sort of nuance with my local installation or something. I will keep trying and hope to stumble upon the fix soon.

usually, you shouldn't need to enter the connection string manually. You should just leave web.config untouched and browse for your site.
The install wizard will adjust the connection string properly according to the information, you provide.
If you still encounter an issue, please provide exact error message and list all the steps you executed to get to this message
