I'm helping a new user log in for the first time, but they aren't seeing the DNN toolbar. The same thing happened to me the first time I tried logging in and I'm not sure what finally got the editing tools to show up. Our version of DNN is probably out of date, but I'm not in the position to update it at the moment.

They're on a Mac running Chrome, but they also tried Safari. We've tried a hard refresh, waiting a day and clearing out the cookies but none of that worked.

Any tricks?

Generally speaking in order to see the editing tools the user must have the permissions configured to allow them to edit. So for example if I have permissions allowing me to edit the Contact page then when I go to the Contact page the edit options will become visible, but when I went to the home page I wouldn't see the control panel or any edit options. These permissions can be set at both the page level and module level. This is what provides the granular permissions capabilities in DNN.

Admin and Host (Superuser) will always see the control panel.

Thank you for your reply, I was thinking it may be something like that but I'm not familiar enough with DNN to know where to find if they can edit or not. I clicked on the user and didn't see any obvious toggles. Is the default that they can edit?

I found the step I'd missed ... I hadn't added the admin role to the user. Thanks again for your help :-)

if the user shouldn't be able to administrate the current website, but manage content on selected pages only, you just need to enter settings of these pages and grant edit permission to the user (or a dedicated role you created for a number of users with similar permission level).
