Jim, what I meant to ask was... what was your "long-term" versus your development solution to this problem.

K.Prouty,

Sadly, generic (and cheap) services like GoDaddy can't resolve this issue as (was described earlier in this thread), you can't access the really good stuff in the IIS setup as that would affect other sites on that server....
A solution I have is to split heavier duty websites onto a 'standard' webserver in the cloud. I then pay more for resources for that server as and when the customer/client base requires it (and pays).

Lower volume sites are run from a webserver I have locally. I have a fibre connection that gives me 300MBits Download and - more importantly - 20MBits upload. Couple that with an SSD based server with loads of memory and following the excellent instructions at https://galleryserverpro.com/eliminat... I have really sharp response times across all my sites.
I'm not convinced that the KeepAlive scenario adds much (if anything) to this, but I did that too!

Hope this helps.

regards,
Duncan

Hi all,

you can use the keep-alive powershell script I described in my blog article also from another computer that has access to the web site (if it is a public site, this should be the case) - it is not necessary that it runs on the same machine as the web site.

This is still an option if you don't have access to the server or IIS settings.

Happy DNNing!
Michael

I've used Uptimerobot for some years without any issues.

https://uptimerobot.com/

Formally hosttracker, they ping your site and send notifications if it goes offline...

Free service too.

Cheers,
