I've tried getting access to the Active Forums support forum to post this message, but that forum is so abandoned that I can't even get them to send me a registration email when signing up.  Based on the almost non-existent traffic there, I'm sure any question posted there would go unanswered anyway.  This is basically why I dread having to use "community" supported software, which basically means nobody is getting paid to do support so there is no incentive to do anything.   It is a shame that there is really no competing forum products for DNN because I would drop AF in a second to get something that people get paid to actually work on and support.  When AF was a pay-to-play product I never had any problems getting support for it, but now that DNN took it over and gives it away you are pretty much on your own with any problems you have.  ANYWAY, so here I am posting a question that will most likely get ignored on the DNN forum as well.

Whenever I do any search on any given combinations of parameters, and that search has results to display, I get a DNN Error page and the following event is logged:

As predicted, my issue just sits unanswered on that github board along with all the other unanswered questions that pile up there (and here for that matter). The biggest negative with DNN for me is the lack of any choices on forum modules. It has always been the simple forum that originally shipped with DNN and then Active Forums and nothing else. Now that Active Forums is being given away, this further reduces the likelihood of any new forum module ever being developed because free software has a tendency to destroy the market for whatever is being given away. Nobody can make any money with a new forum product because the majority of users will always go with the free option despite the lack of support. So we wind up with just one buggy choice in forum software which has almost zero support behind it. Forums are a major feature in many sites-- just as important as good shopping carts in a lot of cases. It's really frustrating to be backed into a corner with just a single forum module option.
