Hi

I want to rename the default aspx page to something else so that I can place a default.htm page in my root directory which visitors will then see first. The idea is that a simple htm page loads much faster and then link to the DNN pages from there.

Is this possible...or is there a work around. I know that I can install dnn in a sub directory but I want to keep it in the root ditrectory if possible

Thanks

It is easy in IIS to configure the home page document names and order that they are tried for each site. If you are using a host, they may have to do that manually for you.

You don't need to rename default.aspx. Just perform a small IIS tuning: open web site properties window, go to "Documents" tab, ensure that "Enable default document" is turned on, and add "default.htm" as first document in document list. Add "default.htm" to your site and IIS will return it if no document specified in URL (e.g. if you type something like this "http://localhost/DotNetNuke/").
