Hello! We have three portals under one install and I'm having trouble creating users in them, if they already exist in one of the others. Example: Test User 1 is already registered in Portal 1. I'd like that user to also be in Portal 2 and be given roles, however they are not showing up in the user list in Portal 2, nor can I add them (we require email addresses to be unique, and that email is already in the db... assigned to Portal 1). I don't want to create duplicate users, I simply want to access the users already in the db. How do I do this? All three of these sites will have a lot of cross-over, so we can't expect registrants to make sure they use 3 different emails. Is there a setting I'm missing where the portals can see/assign roles to users in the other portals? Thank you! (We are running DNN 07.04.02)

you may recreate the same user in a second (or third) portal (website) by using same username, e-mail address and password.
If you are having a lot of cross overs you may also consider creating a portal group using DNN site group editor (http://dnnportalgroups.codeplex.com/)

We do not want to share users. We want the users to be unique for each portal. The portals are under the same install for ease of maintenance. Does anyone know of an ability to require unique users, and not have problems when individuals decide to register on multiple portals on the same install? We like using the email address as the unique username, and would like to find a way for a user to register with the same email, and have a distinctly different account for each portal on the same install.

On a multi portal installation of DNN, a user name can only be used once for all websites. A username might be re-used, but need to use same email and password.
