Hi,

I need to make sure I am giving users' permissions properly. I've just installed a new html editor (CK Editor), and I've noticed some existing users have lost their ability to upload files when creating a link. There is no "Upload" tab in the Hyperlink dialog box. I can correct this issue, by making the user into an Administrator.

But, is this the best way to do this? These users weren't Administrators before.I would like to be able to grant them the ability to upload from the hyperlink dialog box without making them Administrators

Thanks, Tom

The Upload tab in the CK Editor will only dump files into the root folder of the portal.

Instruct your users to use the Browse Server button on the Link Info tab to be able to select folders they can upload into.

(I have actually REMOVED the Upload tab in our DNN 7 installation.)

Thanks. I did notice that I can only dump into the root folder which is unfortunate... let me know if you find a way around that. Not good!!

But my original question is, Can I grant users upload rights without making them an administrator? It seems they can't do so anymore (at least from the Hyperlink tab) with CK editor.) If they aren't an admin, they don't see the upload tab...

Thanks again

Again,

You should instruct your users to click the Browse Server button on the Link Info tab. They can then select the folder they have permission to upload into and upload the file from there. Users can upload into folders they have been granted Write/Upload permission from Admin, File Manager.

IMHO, the Upload tab is a HORRIBLE feature, since it dumps everything into the Root folder.

If I remember correctly, there is a setting for the default upload folder in CkEditer Options - though I never tried it yet.
