Hi,

I just thought I would install DNN8 locally to see what the changes are.

I downloaded the install package and unpacked it into a folder, went in to VS2015 then opened web site using file system. When I try and build the application I get the following errors :-

The file '/DesktopModules/DDRMenu/Menu.ascx' does not exist. C:\Dev\.NET\DnnDev\admin\ControlPanel\RibbonBar.ascx 10

Unknown server tag 'dnn:MENU'. C:\Dev\.NET\DnnDev\admin\ControlPanel\RibbonBar.ascx 14

What am I doing wrong?

Mike

I seem to remember something about DNN not working with the local web server. Is that what the problem is?

Thanks Chris,

I will take a look. The last version I installed was version 6 so I am a bit rusty.

Cheers

Hi Chris,

Followed your video exactly but had the following problems :-

1) dnndev.me in browser didn't work. I had to add www.dnndev.me to IIS.

2) Wizard won't go past the database connection screen. I have put in the details exactly as your video and I get the following error :-

ERROR:Index #: 0

Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 14
Number: 18456
Message: Sql login failed

I have tried setting the server as '.' and '.\SQLExpress'. I have also created a different user, windows authentication but nothing works.

Any ideas?

Regards

Mike
