Was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to why I am not able to view my sites I'm working on.

I have two I'm still in the process of editing the skin/content for, but suddenly a couple days ago my sites disappeared when I go to the address for them.

The only message I'm getting is this:

DNN Error
Connection To The Database Failed

And a button for me to "return to site," but the button just takes me to the Default page which displays the same message. There's no error code or anything for me to look up or reference, so I'm not sure what the reasoning or cause is behind the error.

If anyone can help or has an idea how things went screwy, I'd be deeply appreciative.

That error message means there is an issue connecting to your database based on the connection string you provided in your web.config.
I would recommend if you could open your web.config file and see if the information has already been provided correctly. If you hosting with external provider, they should give you the login details to access your database. Try use sql management studio and connect it from there and see if it works ok. If you do not have one installed. You can use the following url to test it out.

Test SQL Connectivity

Another alternative you want to try is you can request your host provider to restart your site and see if it works.
Hope this helps.
