Hi - I hope this is the correct forum to post my question on as I am relatively new to DNN.

I'm working on a review project for a web portal, collaboration, and content management system.  The system is  eventually targeted for rollout to 10,000 registered users, 2,500 concurrent. However it is running very slowly with even a small number of users in test - and there are big concerns about its scalability. Its based on a custom app build on the dotnetnuke web app framework with an underlying Oracle RDBMS and Exchange servers. The infrastructure is a mix of Windows servers and a Linux Server (for Oracle). The client thinks the major bottlenecks are in the dotnetnuke layer which has been heavily customised.

I am hoping to get some views on dotnetnuke and how it would scale for large numbers of concurrent users - also resilience, availability, supportability etc... and a pointer to any documentation that could help me in this area.

Thanks!

Bee

I know a few people have implemented DNN on very high traffic sites.  Phil Beedle from Byte has implemented a rather large Dotnetnuke webfarm and hasn't had many problems with scalability to my knowledge and I know some of the things they found were incorporated into the latest releases.  The DNN site itself has a fairly high concurrent user count and page views.

Once the DAL has been modified then I think you are going to be on your own as the data layer is a rather important part of the DNN framework.  My guess is that a onfiguration problem or some of the source modifications are causing your problems.

Before anyone could even venture to help you would need to describe the version of DNN, what modules are installed and what data layer modifications were made to the official source.

Hi Jeremy

Thanks for your feedback and thoughts - very much appreciated. I will post more relevant information once I have it.
