Hi,

We are assessing the possibilities on how personalization can be achieved using DNN. Any quick response is appreciated.

Our requirements are:

1. Dynamic menu items: Each user should see their own DNN pages. This can be achieved by providing permission for each user. But the challenge here is user are not DNN users rather they are from external system accessing DNN site by SSO. Users profile will be passed on to DNN site by post or query string get method.

2. Module Personalization: Images shown on the modules needs to be dynamic depending on user profile. That is; how same module can be used to show different image for specific users by their profile. Again users are not DNN users as explained above.

Thanks,

Karthik

Hi,

For the first requirement - i'm trying to create DNN user and making form authentication so that only those pages are visible for the user. Page permissions are set manually.
For the second requirement - Create same module more than once with required images and specify permission. Or create custom module and derive images location from DB table.

Is this the right approach or do you have any other suggestion?

Thanks,
Karthik

Do you need real pages per each user or would it be easier to use DNN Console module to just pass the user id to the same page and select the appropriate (HTML) record?
You may even use DNN Form and List module or DNN Reports module to achieve this without creating a custom module.
