there might be the call to update membership not getting rendered, as richard mentioned before, either check out desktopmodules/admin/security/user.ascx.cs or DNN Connect user management module.

Hey.
So... I just started moving a site from DNN 7, to DNN 8, and have just today discovered the same issue you mention within my custom modules.

In short... I did go out and get the full DNN 8 source code, to see what exactly is being done different than within my code

My custom profile update module WAS working just fine in DNN 7, but as you noted, it is NOT updating the UserInfo values that I explicity update.

So... what I did notice:

within cmdUpdate_Click function in DesktopModules\Admin\Security\Profile.ascs.cs
there is a call to DataCache.ClearCache

So... now... in my code

//Implement New Call here
DataCache.ClearCache();

//Just prior to updating user

UserController.UpdateUser(PortalID, UpdatedUserInfo);

and suddenly... it's working just fine.

Give it a try...

Tried this post yesterday... but apparently it didn't go through.

To make it short... I BELIEVE I have a solution to this, as I to had code that worked in DNN 7 for a custom user Profile tool, but it no longer worked in DNN 8

I did search the DNN 8 code base, and came across 1 thing that I was NOT doing, so I tried it... and lo and behold... it worked.

In the file DesktopModules\Admin\Security\Profile.ascx.cs, there is a call to DataCache.ClearCache()
I had NOT done that in my DNN 7 module, but decided to try it

//Add call to ClearCache, prior to update
DataCache.ClearCache();

//Then, update the UserInfo object
UserController.UpdateUser(PortalID, UpdatedUserInfo);

-----------
It's working for me now... hope this might help, or maybe allow someone else to correct me...
