Hi all

Can anyone tell me where on earth DNN 8.0.3 is getting the admin pages from that it automatically creates when a portal is added from a template.

I have my own master portal template with my own set of admin pages and yet DNN8 refuses to apply them correctly in new portals. Instead it just adds a default set of pages and modules.. and for some reason it also refuses to add the Page Manager page without also adding two Page Manager modules on it.. arrghh!

The portal creation should not override the portal template in the first place, but if it is going to, then where is it getting the pages and modules from?

One might think that the admin.template in folder _default would be the source of these pages, but even removing that file entirely make no difference at all.

So where are the pages coming from? There must be a script or a config or a template somewhere but I cant find it.

Thanks for any advice on this one.

Regards
Rob

Hi Rob,
pages should be included in website template, but there might be a default set in install template in /install folder.

Hi Sebastian

That's what I'm saying... 8.0.3 ignores the portal.template and ignores the admin.template and there is no other template I can find. I've grepped all over the place.

If you leave the admin pages out of the portal template, they are created. If you delete the admin template, they are created. If you create them as deleted, they are still there undeleted.

It seems no longer possible to create a website without specific admin pages.. e.g. Themes or Site Wizard.

I have since found that it is possible to create a template with those pages present but disabled and without admin access. That will do for now.

However, why on earth the Page Manager page is always created with two Page Manager modules on it, regardless of the content of all templates is just a mystery. There must be something somewhere that creates these pages.

If the Page Manager page is always created with two Page Manager modules, it might be caused by multiple module definitions.
DNN 8 includes the option to define admin page in module manifest - this might be, how it is implemented. if you exclude an admin module from install/module folder, the page should be left out.

Bingo.. that was it, thanks! The 8.0.3 update installed a second copy of the extension for whatever reason.

All sorted :)
