You don't need to create two link modules. Module is already there. Just place second one like you placed first one. You can have n number of same modules on page as each module is differentiated by its moduleid. And in module settings you can set permission.

If I use existing Link module and add it to my Home page; it is being displayed twice on the page.

How do I view and change the contents of these two "Link" modules?

I originally suggested to add a second instance using "add new module", but you may even use "add existing module" but should check the box "copy content". this way you just need to delete the items for group 2 from the first instance and the items for group 1 from the 2nd instance - and adjust permissions in module settings.

I am still not being able to figure this out...

1.  If there are two "Helpful Links" listed in the Modules for Home page; how do I know which instance is for which contents? Edit screen does not provided contents information.

2.  If I add a new "Helpful Link" module by using Module->Add Existing Module; how do I add my Links/url to it?
