Using JS client for Downloading File from Secure folder

Hello,

What is a good way of programmatic downloading a file from secure folders from Javascript(Cordova) client. It will need work from version DNN 7.4.x

The functionality will need do:
1. Authenticate to DNN from JavaScript(Cordova client)
2. Then do ajax file download in JS, from files saved in DNN secure file folder on the web site

Suggestions and any link to samples are welcome.

Ps Can the current URL format in some way be a friendly URL?

PS. We found some suggestion that was running into trouble, using the WebAPI Serivces Framework for authentication, but we assume this may be a viable road ahead for authentication ?

Hi Svein,
the best method for connecting external services to DNN is with JWT authentication: https://www.dnnsoftware.com/docs/deve... . But this is only in DNN 8...

Hi Torsten,

Thank you very much for good feed back. ( We do hope to directly upgrade to DNN 9.x in some time later, leapfrogging the DNN 8.0)

1. What would the recommended authorization alternative be, instead of using the JWT authentication in 7.4.x ?

2. Is it any recommended API methods for downloading-/retrieving secure files programmatically ?

Hi Svein,

1.) I give up on this doing it in DNN7.x. So anybody else may chime in ?
2.) Write your own module and provide the WebApi methods you need (if point one is solved)
