Hi DNN Gurus
I am not sure what the differences between install package and deploy package. When use these different packages under some special situations? What different functions or features in these two packages?

Hi Jimmy

Both are the same.  You can packaging different types of extensions (not only modules, for example, languages, skins, auth providers), but the package deployment is the same: via install wizard.

Since the two packages are totally the same, publish one package is enough, why publish two different name but the same content package?

there are Install and Deploy package for DNN itself: DNN install package is for manually install, why deploy packed is used in MS app gallery and hosting environments.
This is not connected to extension packages for DNN modules, skins etc. These always use .zip extension and contain a manifest about the content. They should be installed using the install wizard in Host > Extensions menu item or Settings > Extension tab of the personaBar (DNN9)
