If you guys wanted to give me a good format to use, i could make a skin object that would output a txt or XML (i'd prefer XML) file from the DNN naviagtion system when you click on it.

We could probably even integrate it into the Tabs/Pages management inside the core if we get it working nicely.

Thanks for the comments. I guess I will have to make a skin. I have a little question though, is Visual Studio 2005 the only editor I can do this in? I just swiched to DNN from a Portl Starter Kit 1.0 so I have to do all the ASP 2.0 set-up and what not not to mention Im working from an old machine (ha enough umph for Macromedia Studio 7, but I doubt VS 2005)

Also Im now a little concerned about the navigation, what I plan to do is reference only main tabs off my menu (just a little cosmetic add-on, something similar to the dotnetnuke.com websites icons up top but flash. So the main tabs tab IDs are static and do not change randomly right?

thanks

Samuria Webmaster, could you elaborate on how to do that? I have been reading tutorials on how to skin and all that jazz, but Im a designer, not a developer, I know Action Script, not XML, the tutorial are confusing the heck out of me and this seems like it should me just a simple little thing to do. I finally (after 30 mins of searching) located the DNN skins (the pre-sets) and figured I would slap the Flash file in through the HTML file, NOPE. Then tried the same thing with the ASPX file, got a big error from that. Could you or anyone give a little more detail on how to put the flash file between the embed tag. I havnt found a file that even has embed tags....im lost. help!

Thanks

Can't help you with the embed tag, but check out

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/109/threadid/49448/scope/posts/Default.aspx

for a bit of info about the two ways to create a skin. 1) is to edit the HTML file and associated XML file, then reparse each time you want to view it. This 'parsing' just creates a .ascx file. Alternatively 2) create the ascx file yourself. You can edit the file right on the web site and reload the page to see it take effect - no need to import/upload/parse, etc. You only need do one of these - they are alternatives to each other.

(As you can see, an .ASCX file is just a HTML file with some added bits and can EASILY be edited just fine in Dreamweaver.  Indeed see the neat Dreamweaver extention for DotNetNuke at http://www.thinkofdesign.com/Downloads/tabid/54/view/topics/forumid/20/Default.aspx)

Good luck!
